On March 23, the fifth vessel in the series of large Mark III Flex membrane LNG carriers built by CSSC Jiangnan Shipbuilding for ADNOC (Abu Dhabi National Oil Company) was delivered four months ahead of schedule. The vessel, named "ARADA" (H2704), marks a significant milestone for the project.

The delivery ceremony was attended by Thomas Backmann, Vice President of Investor Relations at ADNOC L&S; Keith Mander, Maritime Project Manager; Rong Yao, General Manager of the Marine Business Department III at CSSC Shipping; Liang Xiaojun, Assistant General Manager of Jiangnan Shipbuilding; as well as representatives from DNV, GTT, the shipowner's supervision team, and the crew of the ARADA.

The construction of this vessel embodies Jiangnan Shipbuilding's continuous technological innovation and lean management expertise. At the beginning of 2026, the vessel completed a "triple-integrated" sea trial, which combined the conventional sea trial, gas trial, and gas testing into a single phase. A total of 187 test items were completed, reducing the trial period by three days compared to the average for the series, setting a new record for the shortest sea trial duration for this series to date. This highly efficient model was made possible by a series of breakthrough optimizations in the gas testing process:

  • By implementing refined adjustments to the loading and testing sequence, the testing time was reduced by four hours, and the berthing time at the terminal was cut by one day, accumulating valuable experience for further shortening future terminal turnaround times. LNG consumption during the terminal phase decreased by approximately 20% compared to the previous vessel.

  • The innovative use of a series cooldown process compressed the testing cycle by six hours.

  • During the gas trial, the cooldown plan was flexibly adjusted to accommodate peak gas usage, resulting in an additional LNG saving of about 10%.
