On June 30, China Merchants Energy Shipping issued an announcement disclosing that on that same day, the company had taken delivery of one 175,000 cbm large-scale LNG carrier, the Hai Chuang, in Dalian through a controlled single-vessel subsidiary.

This vessel is the third unit—and the first vessel under the buyer's option—from a batch of 2+2 energy-efficient and environmentally friendly LNG carriers ordered by the company at Dalian Shipbuilding Industry in 2022.

The Hai Chuang shares the same specifications as the Hai Yun and Hai Han, delivered in September 2025 and January 2026 respectively. It conforms to the latest international LNG carrier design philosophies and possesses excellent port suitability and ship-shore compatibility. The vessel is equipped with new-type LNG dual-fuel low-speed main engines integrated with an iCER system, meeting the IMO's highest emission standards in both fuel oil and gas modes. Its cargo tanks utilise the GTT Mark III Flex containment system, achieving a daily boil-off rate of just 0.085%; it is also fitted with a reliquefaction plant capable of efficiently processing LNG boil-off gas.

Following its delivery, the Hai Chuang will commence service under the long-term LNG transport agreement signed between the company and Sinochem Petroleum Shipping (Singapore).

As of the date of this announcement, the company's LNG transport segment (including its equity participation in CLNG) manages and operates 35 vessels, with 29 vessels on order.
